Lamonby Recruitment have an exciting new position for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a fast growing, third-generation, specialist, design and manufacturing business based on the outskirts of Cambridge.
The successful Design Engineer will ideally have 5 years’ experience using 3D AutoCAD Inventor or similar and have worked incorporating sheet metal design. You will be required to prepare general arrangement drawings which will be sent to the client with the proposal and then to create manufacturing drawings once approved.
In return the successful Design Engineer will be offered a starting salary of £27,000 – £33,000 (Dependent on the individual’s experience and qualifications), Healthcare, Matched pension contributions of up to 5% of salary and 23 days holiday plus one day for each year of service up to 28 days, plus 8 public holidays.
Design Engineer Role
Run through projects with project managers & gain as much information as possible
Review external drawings / sketches
Review multiple documents to ensure that you have gathered all relevant information
Create model / drawings to company standards
Ensure that if the design changes, it has a quick turnaround time
Make sure that all manufacturing drawings are produced and approved in advance, to hit deadlines
Adhere to drawing control procedures to comply with our Quality Management System and ISO 9001
Role Requirements and Qualifications
5 years’ experience using 3D AutoCAD Inventor or similar
Incorporating sheet metal design
Knowledge of engineering materials
Verifying designs by engineering calculations
Knowledge of Parts lists; - Knowledge of illogic rules within AutoCAD Inventor
Hands-on / practical experience including Machining and metal fabrication
The candidate must be friendly and professional and must be able to work well within a team and autonomously.
5 GCSE’s, Grade C+, including Mathematics, English and ICT
Previous experience within the engineering industry using CAD systems, work focused with an excellent work ethic.
Design Engineer Package
- Salary £27,000-£33,000 (Dependent on the individual’s experience and qualifications)
