rincipal Support Officer needed in Truro, Cornwall Ref 5033936 paying £10.74 - 13.22 per hr

The purpose of the role will generally fall within either:

Providing expert administrative, technical support for the Waste team, supporting a variety of functions, teams, individual managers, or groups of managers; orProvide a comprehensive and confidential personal assistance function, dealing with a variety of sensitive and varied issues affecting the public.Duties include:

Overseeing and resolution of problems with document and record management through:Advising on solutions for problems with electronic and manual filing systems and files including scanning on to the EDRMS as appropriateActing as librarian for projects managed by PRINCE2 or similar processesProduce management reports and keep specialist records

To ensure there is effective communication both internally and externally by:Drafting complex and sensitive reports and correspondence for signing off by the relevant managerDealing with highly complex and sensitive enquiries about service matters via all media and in personDeal with all major and complex enquiries for information, appointments etc, for both internal and external customers including overseeing the operation of reception areas if applicableTo design, maintain and improve service systems and processes by for example:Producing reports on performance indicator statisticsMonitoring all applications and policy documents to ensure they are properly publicised and consulted upon, including updating the intranet and Website as appropriateManage and undertake processes necessary to ensure planning and other appeals documentation is prepared on time, in the right form and is communicated effectively to all relevant partiesAdvise and lead to service improvements and systems implementationService of statutory and other noticesUndertaking research and reporting findings and make recommendationsCompiling and presenting complex and in-depth statistical/technical informationTo undertake a number of management tasks, including:Ensuring effective diary management of managers time to enable productive workingTo supervise and or manage less experienced members of staffProvide comprehensive complex advice to colleagues and advise/guide/training less experienced members of staffCo-ordinate and manage matters of a highly confidential, complex and sensitive nature such as restructuring, redundancy situations, disciplinary and grievance issuesTo provide a comprehensive, confidential, PA service dealing with a variety of sensitive and varied issues affecting the publicRepresent the relevant manager at Committee and other internal and external meetings related to relevant administrative projects and issues and at events as appropriate and on relevant bodies.Administer internal arrangements for the appointment of new staff including senior managers. Organising and taking part in recruitment processes.Provide cover during senior officer’s/manager’s absences, addressing any matters that require attention or delegating to an appropriate officer to deal with.
