Job Title - Accountant

Business / Department - Finance

Reports to - Finance Director

Location - Bridgnorth with some travel to other sites

Position Summary / Purpose:

Working closely with the Finance Manager and Finance office manager to prepare Monthly and annual reporting for the SAML business. To ensure company finances are in line with financial accounting regulations. Adhoc reporting around business issues, preparation of budgets and kpi’s.

Compliance with UK statutory and legislative requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities / Position in Structure:

Reporting to Finance Director working with existing local and Group finance teams.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To meet the required standards of managing the Group’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems.
  • To ensure that we meet the required financial auditing requirements
  • Preparation of monthly reporting pack to business and Group
  • To provide effective financial advice and support to the business to enable sound business decisions to be made by Senior Management and the Group Finance Director
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, customers and suppliers
  • Communicate effectively to the finance team, colleagues and senior management team
  • Report monthly to the Finance Director and attend & present at monthly operational meetings
  • To keep up to date with changes regulations and legislation
  • Ensure compliance with statutory legal processes, procedures and filings
  • Ensure compliance with internal business processes and procedures
Person Specification:Qualifications/Education
  • Finance/Accounting qualification or part qualified working towards qualification
  • General technical accounting aptitude/knowledge
  • Computer Literacy
  • Experience of Manufacturing Business
  • Full valid UK driving licence
  • A levels or degree
  • Managing a company’s financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems
  • Familiar with preparation of monthly accounts
  • Working within an industrial environment
  • Providing and interpreting financial information
  • Must be able to work on own initiative and be competent with spreadsheets and computerised accounting packages
  • Reporting monthly results into consolidation platform
  • Experience of meetings and presentations
  • Working with External auditors
  • Capex approvals and analysis of return on investment
  • Cashflow management
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Budgets and forecasts
