Centrica Business Solutions (part of Centrica) brings together expertise from our Global businesses and works to deliver distributed energy solutions to businesses. We provide construction services to deliver projects across the UK for industrial and commercial customers wishing to reduce energy consumption and/or generate energy.

We are looking for a Web Specialist to act as the global expert/super-user of the web and CMS within the global sales and marketing operations team, owning the development, testing, user interface design and maintenance of the sites ensuring that they fully support the business in achieving the revenue targets

  • Location: Windsor, with travel as required


The Role

This position will have the following (not limited to) accountabilities:

Experience working closely with product owners, stakeholders and end users

  • Own the relationship with key stakeholders, working closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and Marketing leadership
  • Understand and analyse business requirements and be able to identify and articulate appropriate technical solutions
  • Product backlog review and refinement
  • Be able to present technical solutions clearly and with enough information to allow product owners to make informed decisions
  • Have the relevant knowledge to provide 1st line support to the end users
  • Work with the 2nd line support to support the technical delivery of changes

Owning the roadmap and all development related to the website

  • Understanding of software development lifecycle including the various phases of testing
  • Previous experience with build configuration and management
  • Guiding frontend and backend developers when necessary
  • Coordinating development work by understanding dependencies, timelines, estimation.
  • Maintaining quality through code reviews and automated testing
  • Establish a roadmap for the product including planning of releases
  • Understanding web performance and security, ensuring solution remains in line with NFRs
  • Contributing to or defining architecture through solution design and technology selection
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and how to leverage these to ensure effective and efficient development workflow

Responsible for ensuring the website is best in class with a lead generation focus

  • Experience of developing best in class Sites with an appreciation for UX & SEO
  • Experience building responsive interfaces that work across mobile, tablet and desktop screens
  • Understanding of web accessibility guidelines and experience building sites that conform
  • Understanding of what it takes to build and maintain reusable CMS templates and components
  • Google analytics integration and configuration
  • Understanding of Search Engine Optimisation and how to improve and maintain Google rankings
  • Extending existing components and creating new components appropriately based on business requirements


The Person

To make a success of this role you will have experience leading a web development team, a strong attention to detail and demonstrable project management skills. You must be able to work collaboratively with diverse, multi-location, and geographical teams. The following are also a requirement:

  • Have strong relationship building skills and proven experience working with sales and marketing teams and leadership
  • Ability to transfer business requirements into a solid roadmap
  • Managing the regional programme with the ability to managing expectations
  • Experience with Git source control including branching strategies such as Gitflow
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA and Confluence would be beneficial
  • Managing both onshore and offshore resources
  • Experience developing on at least one CMS platform (ideally Drupal on Acquia platform)
  • Experience in implementing multi-language sites
  • Experience with Marketing automation tools and Salesforce CRM would be beneficial
  • Strong collaboration skills, ability to work with others at different levels in the organisation
  • Focus on driving measurable results
