Our clients a private Academy is now looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join the team.

The purpose of the role will be to support the Finance Manager and Academy Headteacher by undertaking a number of finance related tasks ensuring the provision of an effective and efficient service.

• Bank reconciliations (run bank unreconciled items & agree bank statement to trial balance)
• VAT 126 check
• Processing of weekly payment spreadsheets
• Produce purchase order statistical information
• Prepare payroll month end journals and postings
• Payroll BACS requests to MAT for third party payments
• Deliveries & services– Monthly & GRN
• Accruals (from deliveries, cost of invoices, income)
• Intercompany reversal journals
• Intercompany journals from MAT
• Agree aged creditors and aged debtors with trial balance
• Reconciliation of control accounts
• Run summary trial balance by ledger code
• Checking and reconciliation of supplier statements to the finance system
• Raising journal transfers and direct debits
• Processing of funding
• Reconciliation of control accounts
• Process weekly purchase order statistics

To be considered for this role, the successful candidate MUST have the following:

• Successful experience working in a Financial role
• Experience of maintaining clear and accurate records
• Working knowledge of functional processes and systems
• Knowledge of school financial policies and procedures
• Experience working with Xero or similar financial system
• GCSE grade C or NVQ 2 in English and Mathematics or equivalent level
• NVQ 3 in business administration or equivalent

Salary is within the range of £15,489 to £20,207 DOE.

Daily working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm, 37 hours per week.
