The candidate

Significant manufacturing & distribution business looking for an ambitious newly-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) looking for a first move into industry. As the Group Financial Accountant, the candidate will join an experienced Group Finance team within this ambitious and fast-growing business.

The Group Financial Accountant will be enthusiastic, naturally inquisitive and have excellent attention to detail. They will be a strong communicator will have a good understanding of accounting standards and be able to apply them to the specific circumstances of the company.

The ability to deliver in a timely manner is key to this role, and all statutory filings must be made in advance of their respective deadlines. To do this, the Group Financial Accountant will be able to manage their time effectively through careful planning and prioritisation of work.

The Group Finance team is built around an ethos of collective responsibility and the Group Financial Accountant will be a true team player. They will build strong relationships with external advisors and internal stakeholders alike, and will be proactive in driving all audit and review processes.


The Group Financial Accountant will be a newly-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) looking for a first move into industry.


Half Year & Full Year Group financial accountso Production of the financial consolidation for half year/year end reporting

o Preparation of financial statements and related disclosures

o Calculation of financial adjustments

o Goodwill impairment reviews

o Maintenance of books and records

Statutory accountso Preparation of subsidiary statutory accounts

o Filing of dormant statutory accounts and annual statements

o Maintenance of books and records

Audito Responsible for the successful audit of the head office companies through provision of timely and accurate audit information

o The key point of liaison for the Group’s auditors

Technical accountingo Drive implementation of major new accounting standards (IFRS 9, IFRS 16)

o Awareness and analysis of the impact of forthcoming changes to accounting standards

o Provision of guidance on technical accounting issues to the wider business

o Maintenance of accounting policies and procedures manual

Taxo Assist with timely filing of:

VAT returnsCorporation Tax submissionsP11d and PSA returnso Assist preparation of corporation tax charge estimate for Half Year and Full Year Results

o Continual development of processes underpinning tax calculations and filings

o Responsibility for the maintenance of books and records behind all tax filings

o Other ad hoc tax-related tasks

Responsibility for various compliance reportingo Intrastat, EC Sales, National Stats
