Lead DevOps Engineer, Leeds (£60,000 + benefits)

A Leeds based company working in law and finance are looking to take on a Lead DevOps Engineer who will be an integral part of the company's cloud strategy.
Currently they only have on premise VMware, but are just about to install cloud - you would be taking the lead on the planning, design and install of the solution.

You will report into the Head of Software Engineering, working closely with the development and infrastructure teams to deliver the infrastructure automation and containerisation solution.

The Role:
  • Provide architectural and technical guidance to Development and Infrastructure
  • Take responsibility for ensuring test environments are representative of production
  • Assist with automated testing of environments and software
  • Co-ordinate and help with upgrades to Dev, test and production infrastructure
  • Provide guidance for automated monitoring of production environments
  • Develop a strategy and implement infrastructure automation across the in house developed application estate using cloud and relevant tools
  • Develop a strategy and implement containerisation of workloads
  • Identify technologies and tools that can streamline the processes , and POC them. You will be given the opportunity to experiment on a daily basis.

The skills needed:
  • Ability to demonstrate the benefits of adopting a Devops culture
  • Cloud set-up and automation (Cloud vendor isn't important)
  • Automation and scripting skills
  • Understanding of containers and tools (i.e. Docker and Kubernetes)
  • Understanding Continuous Delivery pipeline
  • Understanding of automated testing and monitoring technologies

The Package:
  • Salary - £50,000 - £65,000
