Opportunity: HSEQ & Compliance Manager

Organisation: Third Party Logistics Provider (Food Retail)

Location: St. Albans, Hertfordshire

Remuneration: £35,000 to £45,000


Blue Dot Search & Selection is continuing to support this leading provider of value added supply chain and logistics services in seeking to recruit a high calibre HSEQ & Compliance Manager to support and further develop the health, safety and quality function at their Distribution Centre in the St. Albans, Hertfordshire area.

This position represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSEQ professional who is looking to further their career with a true market leader in their sector. The successful candidate will hold responsibility for driving the HSEQ agenda forward within an organisation which prides itself on its safety and quality culture.


Reporting into the site General Manager this challenging and yet highly rewarding position holds responsibility for the development, implementation, monitoring and effective management of all HSEQ functions, policies and procedures at this specialist food retail Distribution Centre.

As part of this the position holds responsibility for constantly improving Health & Safety standards on site, identifying and implementing proactive interventions as appropriate and delivering and championing various behavioural safety programmes as appropriate.

Conducting regular audits, inspections and statistical analysis including trending will enable identification of issues and areas of concern to be addressed.

Key to the success of this role is the provision of support, coaching, mentoring and training to all personnel on site ensuring that an HSEQ mindset is effectively embedded and followed through.


Demonstrable senior level Health & Safety management experience ideally gained within a similar, large, fast paced and highly pressurised logistics / distribution or alternatively manufacturing or engineering environment.

A NEBOSH qualified, highly motivated self-starter who has the passion, ambition and drive to make a difference to safety within the business and who holds experience in behavioural change management and solving complex problems.

Extremely strong interpersonal skills coupled with an ability to establish effective communication channels and working relationships are essential as is experience of influencing stakeholders and negotiating change.

Similar Relevant experience of managing HSEQ ideally within a temperature controlled food logistics environment underpinned with a food safety qualification & HACCP to level 3.

Well developed presentation and training skills coupled with the ability to translate legislation into everyday language.
