OVERVIEW OF THE JOB

    The responsibility of this post will be to develop and maintain all academic data systems within the college, to provide accurate and clear reports for the senior management team with the College.To lead the data team in the college supporting data protection, preparation of academic data, attendance data, examinations and timetables; also responsible for all course records held on the school and partner University systems; and is responsible for data submissions to the OfS, HESA, QAA, ISI and other statutory annual census reports.To personally manage the capture, storage and processing of data and the production of associated reports, analyses and charts relating to student performance in support of the college's aim to raise academic results. The job holder’s role also specifically encompasses the maintenance of accurate attendance and academic data and providing data support to the college Senior Leadership Team.

You will be directly responsible to Academic Manager.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

Data Management

    To create, oversee and develop the school’s use of data for the Senior Leadership Team and the Teaching Staff.To analyse the College’s academic data, including exam results, report grades, attendance figures and other specific academic areas.To be an active participant in developing systems in College in raising standards and performance across the whole College.Strategic and operational data, and its systems within school.To produce clear, concise, accurate information to support Senior Leaders in raising standards of performance in school.To maintain student specific data to a high standard.To set up, maintain and review highly complex data.To analyse problem solving developing solutions and/or strategies with senior leaders in increasing school improvement.To develop and monitor data management information systems.Determine the need for and arrange provision, analysis and evaluation of data and detailed reports/information.Be responsible for the submission of relevant information to SLT and outside agencies and submissions to the OfS, HESA, QAA, ISI and other statutory census reports to awarding bodies and regulators.This policy may be reviewed annually and may, after consultation and negotiation, be changed according to the needs of the school.Line management of the curriculum officer, UCAS officer and School administrator
PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

    Relevant qualification in ICT / business administration.Analytical skills.Level 5/6 education standard (desirable).
Experience

    Experience of working in a data management capacity within education.Experience of managing and developing data systems, such as: SIMS.net; Capita Unit-e; or, other similar student records Systems.Experience of producing accurate data for reporting and assessment.Experience of forming and maintaining network relationships.Information gathering and analysis.Creating and maintaining data capture and data entry templates.
Knowledge and Understanding

    Understanding and knowledge of effective data management strategies.Knowledge of statutory data reporting requirements such as school census.Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunity issues within the workplace.
Skills and Abilities

    Ability to keep up to date on relevant policies and procedures in line with the duties identified in the job description.High level computer skills.Enthusiasm, self-motivation and good communication skills.Ability to work to professional standards, to develop effective working relationships and make judgements and to influence others through persuasion / discussion.Good team player and good sense of humour.Ability to be self-motivated, flexible and well organised to manage, at times, unpredictable and variable workloads.
