SOFTWARE ARCHITECT (BRISTOL) - SC (Secret Level) UK Security Clearance This is a principle role enabling you to improve and apply your technical skills across our range of software domains responding to the functional and performance requirements associated with our complex products.

In this role you will be:

- Working closely with project and skill based functional team stakeholders to define requirements

- Investigating and solving complex problems

- Developing architectures that ensure compliance with standards such as Safety and Security whilst also cultivating product development in terms of modularity and reuse

- Conducting and supporting project reviews

- Supporting technology, product and product line roadmaps

- Exchanging knowledge and ideas with other architects, technical experts, project leads and development teams to shape the future.

- Acting as a role model to other engineer and providing coaching to less experienced engineers

- Representing the software function at meetings with external stakeholders

- Helping to build effective teams

Essential Criteria

- Ideally you will have Developed Vetting (DV) clearance but must be willing to apply for it.

- Proven experience in delivering complex software solutions

- Able to take a pragmatic approach to solutions

- Ability to advise and influence on technical aspects within a collaborative environment

- Able to articulate ideas to management, technical communities and development teams

- Familiarity with UML modelling language

- Familiarity with Rhapsody (or similar) modelling tool

- Ideally you will have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Software and Systems Security and will be comfortable working with engineers from other disciplines and within an international context. It would be desirable, but not essential for your experience to have been gained in defence, automotive, aerospace or telecoms.

- Able to show capability in developing low-level code using appropriate languages, e.g. C, C++, Ada, and / or be able to direct others to do so.

- Ideally you will have a background in software engineering with good knowledge of modern development practices. Knowledge of standards and guidelines such as IEC61508 or RTCA/DO-178B would be desirable
