Management Accountant

Location: Ipswich

Kier Local Highways is looking to recruit a Management Accountant who will report to the Finance Manager. The successful post-holder will be responsible for the provision and interpretation of financial/ management information to support and inform the local management team. This includes assisting with the completion of month end procedures and the completion of monthly management accounts as well as preparation of monthly rolling forecasts and Annual Business Plans.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provision of front line support to business segment management, attending Contract manager meetings where required.

- Assisting with the preparation of business segment management accounts including reporting packs/commentary and analysis.

- Preparation of analysis in respect of WIP, Debt and Cash positions on contracts.

- Assisting with the preparation of Monthly Forecasts and Annual Business Plans.

- Completion of balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining control accounts.

- Interfacing with local and Group support functions .i.e Finance Shared Service Centre.

- Completion of adhoc analysis as required by the Finance Manager and wider business.

- Deputising for the Finance Manager where required.

- Supporting the Finance Manager in ensuring appropriate systems of internal control are maintained and development of and adherence to company procedures.

- Work with contract commercial and operational management to drive contract performance.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

- Part qualified accountant

- Finance experience ideally gained in a commercial or management accounting role

- Experience of working in the Support Services sector and or contract accounting would be advantageous

- Excel literate preferably including macros

- Able to manage pressure

- Ability to challenge and question operational management

- Meet strict deadlines

- Be an excellent team player
