JavaScript / Node Lead Software Engineer

An excellent opportunity for a lead software engineer with experience in JavaScript and Node has arisen with an exciting company in Leeds.

Skills - Essential:

  • Java Script/Node
  • Lead experience
  • At least 4 years' experience in a high demand and high availability environments
  • Good understanding of Java and ideally, AWS native technologies
  • Be comfortable with techniques such as message queues, data stores and knowledge of what makes a good RESTful API
  • Understanding of Systems Development Life-Cycle
  • Knowledge of Kotlin, Kubernetes, and Kafka is desirable


  • Encourage team members to lead initiatives and develop themselves
  • Drive best practices and technical improvements in the team
  • Work with the Engineering Manager to recruit the best engineers for your team
  • Work with your Product Owner to determine the best way to deliver the roadmap
  • Lead by example on transparent communication, ensuring that business expectations are always set realistically
  • Uphold and maintain the SDLC
  • Make improvements to working practices
  • Lead on inceptions and elaboration of work

About the Role:

Working in an agile environment, you will be required to process and assess incoming data, allowing traders to make the right decisions under pressure. You will need to lead your team (initially of 6 then growing to 8) and drive them to excel as well as advance in their career. You will be using the company's time-critical systems which are able to handle large amounts of data while keeping inactivity to a minimum. You will have a "can-do" attitude, able to voice your opinions and contribute at all levels while also listening and learning from your colleagues
