Accountant (Newly Qualified)

**This role will ideally suit a recently qualified Chartered Accountant looking for their first move in-house.**

In addition, we manufacture furniture for builders' merchants, large DIY stores and directly to individual customers.

What you will be doing

Reporting into the Finance Manager, this is a key role within the finance function, primarily supporting the timely preparation and reporting of management accounts and associated management information to help measure and drive company performance to budget. Additional responsibilities are to support the business internally, through the delivery of ongoing business information and externally supporting delivery of clean audits and finance information to external users.

This role will ideally suit a recently qualified accountant who is looking to develop their career in a forward thinking culture and supportive environment.

What you will be accountable for

Support monthly and management reporting

Support timely and accurate delivery of monthly management accounts including:

  • Preparing and posting journals
  • Preparing accruals and prepayments
  • Reconciliation and analysis of key accounts
  • Review / reconciliation of system generated customer rebate provisions
  • Prepare monthly labour KPI reports for operational management
  • Creation of the Balance sheet reconciliation file including reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts
  • Review / reconciliation of system generated customer rebate provisions
  • Preparation of monthly reporting schedules - eg stock reports

Business and department support

  • Prepare weekly labour KPI reports for operational management
  • Preparation of customer / project / site profitability reports are required by the business
  • Support cost centre managers with information, analysis and answers to queries as required
  • Support the company accountant with finance system information updating

Annual / Ad Hoc

  • Support delivery of a clean external audit by aiding with provision of information to the auditors
  • Support annual insurance program renewal through collation of information
  • Complete statutory returns including National Statistics returns

Previous Experience & Key Skills

  • Recognised accountancy qualification (Essential)
  • Strong understanding of accounting entries and concepts
  • Business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Work as part of a small close team
  • Advanced excel skills using functions such as vlookup, sumif, pivot tables
  • Confidence to challenge existing practice and to develop and articulate solutions
  • Ability to assimilate new skills quickly and work with a high level of autonomy
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to both financial and non-financial colleagues
  • Embraces and drives change
