The Role

Brewster Pratap are supporting with the appointment of a PHP developer for a Sheffield charity that has a national presence, they are small but dynamic team that is keen to help others reach their full potential. They are looking for someone who has experience of updating PHP code using a variety of frameworks and who is looking for a new challenge.

The primary role of the PHP Developer is to ensure that the applications and systems enable the organisation to deliver best-in-sector services to its customers and applicants. This really is a great oppotunity to work for a organisation and brilliant set of people who are all glad the work they do contributes to making a difference to the lives of others.

The Job

  • Develop new and existing web applications
  • Ensure the continued high performance of applications and websites
  • Recommended improvements to existing applications and systems
  • Establish requirements for new software and services, both for internal systems and systems for external clients
  • Code/configure new functionality directly, or commission external developers
  • Develop reports and data management solutions for staff
  • Provide support and assistance
  • Update and fix issues with our IT infrastructure to ensure the continued high performance of our network, servers and clients
  • Support and train staff in their use of hardware, operating systems and software
  • Configure and manage systems (e.g. for new applications, to improve performance)
  • Ensure the system configuration and staff training complies with applicable IT legislation
  • Keep the line management and team up-to-date with systems performance
  • Other IT and organisational tasks as requested

The Person

  • Educated at degree-level or have gained equivalent workplace skills
  • Minimum 3 years professional web-development experience in PHP, MySQL, HTML & JS
  • In-depth knowledge of web-based software systems, including the full LAMP stack
  • Experience of working with databases, either at a code level or data reporting level
  • Able to communicate and contribute well as part of a team
  • Self-disciplined, able to prioritise, with good motivation and organisation skills
