The SEN Teaching Assistant
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will need to have previous experience supporting children or adults with complex needs and challenging behaviour and also be willing to do aspects of personal care. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need to be resilient, enthusiastic and have a very positive attitude. Due to the varied needs in the classroom, it would be an advantage if you have had experience using PECS, Makaton or BSL (or other communication methods).
The SEN School
Based in the borough of Southwark, this SEN School cater for 137 students between the ages of 7-19 years old. The students they cater for have a wide range of special needs, and some children have moderate or severe learning difficulties. They base their curriculum around the needs of the children and their main aim is to help their students' progress and have a smooth entry to the next stage of their learning experience. In 2015, this school were reviewed as 'good' in all areas and have only since made huge improvements!
