Are you an experienced Technical Manager looking for a new role in the food industry? The role may also be ideal for an experienced Quality Manager looking for their next step and the opportunity to progress to a Technical Manager role.

The business is an award winning £multi-million food manufacturer/logistics provider with food storage sites across the UK. You will work as part of the Compliance team and focus on the technical requirements of the storage and logistics side of the business; understanding the quality systems and providing technical expertise in areas such as food safety, legal compliance and British Retail Consortium Global Standards.

  • The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional with a confident, friendly manner

  • Must have experience in a Technical or Quality Assurance environment.

  • Experience within the food industry or 3rd party logistics would be an advantage

  • Experience working towards BRC Standards would also be advantageous

  • Expected to have excellent auditing skills and high degree of planning/organisational skills

  • A sound working knowledge of HACCP

  • Expected to possess the ability to identify risk and manage to an acceptable level with the ability to influence business decisions that impact on product safety, integrity and quality.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Knowledge of the food industry, best practices, Health & Safety and regulatory compliance is expected

  • Ideally certified with Level 4 Advanced HACCP and Level 4 Food Safety Management

  • Must possess a full clean driving licence and be willing to travel, as visits are required to other sites.

  • Willingness to travel to other sites as required


  • Continuous improvement of quality systems and customer/legal compliance within the company’s four UK storage and distribution sites, developing common processes where possible.

  • Continuous improvement of food safety controls including from issues identified within internal audits.

  • Driving quality standards/consistency to meet customer expectations and managing customer and regulatory body visits and audits at each of our depots.

  • Managing /leading audits against the BRC Global Standard for Storage & Distribution and implementation of the latest BRC Standard versions as and when applicable.

  • Supporting new processes and ensuring they meet with food safety standards.

  • Part of the Site Management team, responsible for ensuring that the site meets targets and delivers agreed Strategies and Targets.

  • Liaison as necessary with other organizations and relevant authorities, and assistance and cooperation concerning audits and remedial actions.

  • Ensuring the Group Compliance Manager and Site Management Teams are aware of Technical Issues (internal and external) that may impact on the performance of the business.

  • You will lead and develop the site HACCP team to ensure the system is reviewed, relevant, implemented and complied with.

  • Be independent from any manufacturing site and conduct internal audits to the Global Standard for Food Safety on a quarterly basis.
