Synopsis of Role
The role reports to an IT Director within Technology. As well as expertise and experience in the field of IT Governance, the key attribute for this person is to be able to drive execution of initiatives and projects arising from this area, co-ordinating and collaborating with Senior technical SMEs across multiple teams and functions to ensure delivery.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years experience in Information Security and Information Risk Management. Desirable qualifications include,
• CISA/CRISC/CGEIT/CISM/COBIT/ISO27001 (any or combination)
• Understanding of ITIL framework
• Experience in a financial services organisationQualifications
o Managing and driving IT security projects and initiatives.
o Clearly and precisely communicating with all colleagues, peers and senior management on progress, challenges and way forward when undertaking projects, initiatives and activities.
o Contribution to business and IT projects to ensure appropriate controls are built in at the start. Ensuring ongoing compliance of information security policies and standards.
o Actively seek out, engage with and influence technology peers across IT teams, to improve controls and mitigate any deficiencies.
• Governance & Expertise
o Providing governance on the effectiveness of IT policies, procedures, audits and compliance with the firm’s corporate IT governance, Information Security and IT Risk Management requirements.
o Applying in-depth knowledge and experience of information technology security, market trends to determine potential risks. Combine this hands-on experience with other technology subject matter experts to implement, enforce policies, standards and methodologies.
o Participating in security programmes and initiatives, and liaising with business owners, Compliance and Operational Risk for ongoing alignment.
o Performing reviews, analysis and drawing conclusions to provide direction and guidance on reports, and ensure recommendations are aligned with corporate/local technology needs and capabilities.
o Promoting IT security, governance, best practices within technology and the business.
o Leading local security/privacy incident response issues.
o Risk escalation and resolution.
o Participating in client and pre-sales activities via client meetings and RFI, RFP and due diligence submissions.
o To confirm that there is appropriate and adequate management information to facilitate a review of the key performance and risk (and compliance with applicable rules and regulations) at senior management level including providing timely, relevant and accurate management information to assist in decision making and oversight.
o To take steps to confirm that security is upheld at all times and that the secure access is monitored.
o Maintain up to date departmental operational procedures.
o Contribute to the effective governance of the EMEA region. Play an active role in regional committees, offering constructive challenge and helping to support the committee fulfil its role and responsibilities.
o Help to ensure that a strong governance culture is embedded within the organisation, that issues are escalated and cascaded appropriately and that key risks are identified, discussed and mitigated.
o Build a good understanding of the EMEA governance framework.
• Corporate Responsibilities
o To confirm the firm meets with the corporate requirements and strategic requirements of the Bank of New York Mellon pertaining to Information Technology.
o To confirm that the management of the firm is kept fully informed of the departmental strategy and other corporate issues.
• Maintenance of Technical Knowledge
o To maintain an understanding of the industry from a regulatory and operational perspective.
o To maintain a working knowledge of the FCA and CBI rules and regulations, as well as up to date knowledge of market practices and exchange rules.
o To maintain an understanding of technical/functional knowledge as required for the role.
To uphold the 11 FCA Principles for business and to actively encourage a culture of compliance throughout the firm.
