Network Engineer required by global organisation to provide both project delivery and BAU support for the global data network infrastructure in both business and datacentre environments.
You will be able to provide a high level of consultancy across a broad range of Cisco data networking technologies (routing, switching, streaming and security) and some input towards Wintel infrastructure supported by the global MPLS, WAN and regional LANs. Working within a global team, based in London, the Network Engineer / NOC Engineer will monitor and support existing Cisco based data network and Wintel infrastructure resolving issues relating to LAN/WAN/VPN/VLAN/MPLS and critically datacentre technologies operating on a global basis including virtualised Wintel server technologies, storage solutions, Linux environments and other related technologies. Load Balancing, routing and switching will therefore form a part of the role and an appreciation of datacentre focussed protocols across LAN/WAN/ Storage/Security processes required across Cisco Nexus 5K, ASA, Catalyst Switches, ISR/BIG-IP Load Balancing equipment amongst other related technologies.
Your Wintel infrastructure responsibilities will be secondary to these networking roles (80% 20% split). The Network Engineer/Infrastructure Analyst will become involved with Cisco based Network Architecture and Design working in a team to devise solutions which will be fit-for-purpose and integrate into existing solutions on a global basis. The role will be a 50/50 split of project work to BAU and will require problem identification, diagnosis and resolution across both work-streams.
The successful candidate will possess excellent organisation and communication skills and ideally hold CCNA/CCNP or similar qualification and ideally (not essential) a degree level education.
You may have been working for a media company within a similar high traffic volume environment such as Eurosport, BBC, Virgin Media or alternatively for a global banking, insurance, media or professional services organisation. We are able to consider candidates from all environments and would also be keen to speak to candidates with a background in medium sized environments who are looking to find a role which will give you more architectural experience as well as security exposure.
