Barker Munro recruitment Ltd has an interesting opportunity for an experience Claims handler to work within this niche area of insurance handling a range of residential and commercial Insurance claims across the UK and Europe.
You will be the first point of contact for claims arising into the business, responding to and providing advice to the business and providing a consistently high level of service to our clients, dealing with issues efficiently and effectively in line with company procedures.
You will be responsible for your own caseload of claims, from start to completion. This involves opening residential/lender claims within 24 hours; researching the claim; writing detailed correspondence to the insured and other entities; keeping the insured updated throughout the claim; assessing quantum; setting reserves; negotiating settlement; arranging payment of claims; updating all spreadsheets/reports/Outlook taskbars/claims system throughout the claim; complying with audit and regulatory requirements and closing the claim once complete. You will instruct solicitors on claims, seeking advice and questioning points where necessary and liaise closely with the underwriting team to clarify policy wording. Using your technical knowledge and understanding, you will identify exception items and escalate to an appropriate member of the team.
To succeed in this challenging role you will have experience in claims negotiation within either a legal, broker or insurer market. Alternatively you may have a background in conveyancing or property litigation where you will have gained experience of dispute resolution, access, easement, covenant issues and landlord and tenant disputes
You will be capable of developing and applying technical knowledge to issues, possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills along with a high attention to detail and the ability to organise and prioritise a varied and busy workload often within tight deadlines. Good negotiation and decision making skills are required.
As you will be interfacing with all levels of staff, clients, panel solicitors and brokers, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Able to work on your own initiative, you will also have the ability to function effectively in a team environment. Our client would like candidates to have a Degree 2:1 (or equivalent).
You will need to be comfortable in a business negotiating environment, have a strong desire to succeed and be willing and able to gain knowledge quickly in order to successfully take full ownership of the claim from initial notification through to final settlement.
