Senior Windows Administrator

Loughborough - £45000 - £50000 plus benefits

Would you like to work in a key role for one of the UK's fastest growing software businesses? If so, I am looking for a Senior Windows Administrator for a company in Loughborough. You will be working in a large environment as a key part of their Systems Administration team. The ideal person will have great troubleshooting skills and be knowledgeable in Active Directory and 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services. This team is growing very quickly so there is huge potential for career development. It's also a chance to work in a Dev-Ops enviroment which is one of the most in demand skills in I.T.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of our software to support it within the windows server environment
  • Working with software development and support teams to achieve the technical goals of the company
  • Become an expert in the best practice for optimum performance of our varied software solutions
  • Be able to work with the other company departments such as sales, consultancy and support
  • Personally owning the environment uptime SLAs and performing 3rd line support to issues as they arise
  • Incident and problem ticket logging, ownership and update through to resolution
  • Proactively managing the performance of the environment
  • Ensure the firewalls and other network security is correctly configured
  • Reacting to threats as they occur as well as proactively ensuring all systems conform to penetration tests
  • Controlling and managing user access for customers and internal staff
  • Dealing with security breaches and attacks when they happen
  • Spot backups and restores to individual systems
  • Setting up test and demonstration systems
  • Investigating and resolving environmental, performance and scalability issues
  • Documenting new systems and changes to system
  • Work within our ISO27001 compliant policy, process and records management framework

Your technical background should include most of the following:

  • Be comfortable configuring Windows 2012R2/2016 servers and DNS
  • Be experienced in configuring Active Directory and Group Policies
  • Be experienced in the Windows 2012R2/2016 security model for AD users with fine grain security control
  • Be experienced in configuring Remote Desktop Services in windows 2012R2
  • Be very experienced in IIS platforms
  • Have some experience with VMWare technologies
  • Have some experience in SQL Server 2014/2016
  • Have some experience of PowerShell or other scripting language
  • Have some exposure to Application Performance Management technologies
