Assistant Accountant: Due to impressive growth an experienced AAT qualified or part qualified Assistant Accountant is required to oversee the full range of finance related activities from invoicing through to collecting payment, credit control, cash management, reconciliations and monthly reporting for a friendly, reliable builders merchants with a reputation for going the extra mile.

The successful Assistant Accountant will support the Finance Director as the company drives to meet business targets and continues to grow. The Assistant Accountant will join a well-established, family run independent building and plumbing merchants headquartered in Leamington Spa with a further seven sites serving the areas of Warwickshire, Worcestershire & Gloucestershire. - Supervision of the Credit Control and Purchase Ledger teams to ensure all customer administration and day-to-day financial transactions are completed effectively and accurately
- Manage a small team (recruitment, setting objectives, performance review, L&D)
- Manage company ledgers, ensuring purchase orders are correct, making amendments where required and that payments & receipts are correctly allocated to the proper accounts
- Review reconciliation of control accounts and bank reconciliations, verify balances and bank deposits, rectify any discrepancies
- Manage accruals and prepayments, make manual payments as required
- Cash management to include business expenses, checking and payment of employee & office expenditure and control of petty cash balances
- Encode accounting entries for data processing & ensure financial information is entered into the appropriate systems
- Prepare financial accounts ready for review and complete the year-end analysis
- Complete reports (debtors & creditors and the Office for National Statistics reports)
- Assist with preparation of budgets, records and statements
- Prepare the payroll, ensuring all payments are correctly input
- Assist with and provide cover for credit control and purchase ledger when required

Skills & Experience:
- Accounting qualification, recently qualified or part qualified AAT or similar
- Relevant experience in a financial role in a complex transactional business within the SME sector
- Experienced with accounting systems e.g. Sage
- Supervisory experience
- Strong bookkeeping skills & experience of preparing accounts
- Payroll experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Strong data manipulation and presentation skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office suite skills
