We are currently recruiting for a Production Planner for a textiles business based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, with a long history and reputation for quality processed products. The Production Planner is a newly created role and will be reporting to the Supply Chain Management team.

The Production Planner will ensure goods received by employer are processed in a cost-effective way that meet the quality specifications of the clients. Makes sure that goods are ready to distribute to customers in a timely manner, while improving the company's production and distribution processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

*Liaises with sales division to determine customer requirements
*Approves materials, costs, manufacturing equipment, and the size of workforce needs to manufacture goods
*Forecast project schedules from concept to completion
*Develop production schedules detailing all tasks and when they should be completed by to meet predicted completion date
*Liaise with stakeholders; customers, suppliers, production and operational teams to ensure all workers, materials, and machinery will be available when required
*Complete production planning and control processes with ERP software
*Monitor project progress to ensure production schedule adhered to
*Troubleshoots problems that occur during production, including staff shortages and machinery malfunctions
*Organises project paperwork, including purchase orders, and maintains records
*Monitors production and raw material costs
*Collects and assesses data about the production and team's performance
*Prepares reports about production processes for upper management and suggests ways to improve efficiency
*Draw up the master schedule to establish production sequence and lead time of each production to meet export dates according to customer orders or sales forecasts
*Explore production specifications and maintain the plant capacity data
*Give the guidance of production workers production planner makes a plan sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations
*To determine the update status of assigned projects he confers with department supervisors
*Meet unexpected conditions, production planner makes hurry operations plan for solving the delay schedules or alters schedules

Skills & Qualifications:

*Must have experience gained with a materials planning / MRP role within the manufacturing industry
*Excellent communications skills and the ability to build relationships both face to face and over the phone
*Ability to work to tight deadlines, developing structured working procedures and have the ability to prioritise whilst giving your full attention to details
*Good understanding of Lean Principles especially Level Scheduling, Lead-times, Continuous Improvement and one-piece-flow
*Ability to effectively make decisions with limited time and information: you will need to be able to resolve issues as they arise and then communicate them effectively to your internal customers
*Strong analytical capabilities, with a basic understanding of statistical analysis techniques
*Experience of Manufacturing Execution Systems (Routes, Bills-of-Materials and Work-In-Progress etc)
*Broad supply chain awareness
*Ideally a high level of proficiency with Oracle based systems or SAP
*Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred
