They offer the full range of services across IP, but these services extend far beyond rights protection to enforcement, licensing and advice on strategy, covering infringement, commercialisation and monetisation. The firm is now in a position where they would like to hire a Director/Head of BD and Marketing to take the firm to the next level. This is a very exciting proposition and there is much to be achieved. The role will report to the firm's management committee and it will focus primarily on business generation, growth and profile raising. You will be responsible for creating and implementing the BD and marketing strategy, in line with the firm's overall vision. The scope of the role is very broad and will encompass working with the partner leads on their individual business plans, reviewing the bidding process and seeing where value can be added, coaching the fee earners, relationship management and the implementation of a suitable programme including client listening and feedback, proactive PR and marketing, including a digital marketing strategy and a review of the firm's online presence, including the website. These are just a few projects in a role which you can really make your own. The partners are very much invested in this and there will be scope to grow a small team on a needs basis.

The role is open to those with backgrounds within professional services. IP experience/knowledge would be advantageous but not essential. What is critical is a proven and demonstrable track record across business development and marketing, the right commercial mindset with the ability to be flexible and work at both a strategic and tactical level. A demonstrable genuine enthusiasm for intellectual property will also be key.
