The Consultancy Group are currently recruiting for a Divisional Financial Controller to join a major consumer business on a 12 month FTC. The position is responsible for the effective operation of robust internal controls related to financial reporting, managing external audit activities, adopting best practices, driving process efficiencies through simplification and developing personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective functioning of financial controls, including accurate and timely submissions of the accounting records for consolidation
  • Provide technical accounting support to the region for complex transactions
  • Support the adoption of new or revised accounting standards
  • Work with the IT organization to enable process improvements as part of the ERP implementation
  • Review significant sales contracts
  • Review significant purchase contracts to ensure liabilities and other contingencies are properly accounted for
  • Working closely with the country controllers to deliver accurate, insightful Annual Reports
  • Primary interface for external auditors
  • Manage controller function within the region, setting goals and objectives, coaching and assessing performance
  • Work with the business assurance/internal audit team to remediate identified control deficiencies
  • Work with shared accounting services to effect best practices and process improvements where practical
  • Work closely with business unit Finance Directors to ensure proper recording of business results

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 8-10 years' professional experience working for multinational companies
  • Strong technical accounting background, including knowledge of IFRS & local accounting standards together with strong commercial acumen
  • Experience with ERP and associated ledger systems - Microsoft Dynamics AX would be preferred
  • Experience interfacing with external auditors; detailed knowledge of regional statutory reporting requirements
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills as well as the ability to form very strong relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
