Senior Mechanical Design Engineer/Technical Manager – Automated Machinery

What is the role?

Based at the Hawke Street facility in Sheffield, Gripple Automation offers bespoke design and build of machines to improve manufacturing processes and significantly improve performance.

This hands-on role in the design and development of automated machinery involves working closely with production, engineering, customers and suppliers. With an understanding of regulatory requirements, you will continuously apply innovative thought to ensure our design services offer maximum value to our customers. A high level of commercial awareness is key to ensure cost effective design solutions are delivered on time and in full.

Who you are

The ideal candidate should have at least five years’ experience in mechanical design and as a minimum, an HNC/HND/degree qualification in a relevant discipline. To be selected for interview you must also:

• have experience in the design of automation in a manufacturing environment
• be proficient in CAD (Solid Work preferred) and be used to working with a PDM system
• have experience of supervising a design team
• have a proven track record of innovative design solutions
• have experience of working with pneumatics, hydraulics and robotics
• have experience of carrying out machine risk assessments and producing technical documentation in accordance with the machinery directive and other associated standards
• possess a high level of attention to detail with excellent communication skills
• be able to demonstrate exceptional drive and initiative
• have a full UK/EU driving licence
