Interpretation of design requirements from initial customer contact through to manufacture, delivery, installation and lifetime support. Specifying the best suited manufacturing techniques and the potential suppliers and sub-contractors able to support.

Review, check and approve design efforts from the UK Design team to ensure that quality is being maintained in both Mechanical, Electrical and systems engineering, organise the review of own work with colleagues in the UK, USA and Japan.

Creation and refinement of technical mechanical part and assembly drawings to capture design intent and document the key aspects necessary to accomplish the operational goals of a project, developing detailed design data along the way.

Maintain and manage project schedules through interaction with planners and project managers and directly with Clients working as single point of contact for multiple Clients on multiple projects.

Creation of communication documentation including tender responses, technical queries, reports and manuals to help convey the key aspects of a design to a client or manufacturing partner to include 3D models and animations.

Creation and maintenance of a Bills of Materials for one or more projects and the compilation and Management of Quality plans to UK Nuclear standards, based on ISO 9001:2015 and client specific processes.

Creation, control, and maintenance of release packages and design history files including setting up effective data management systems.

CE marking of components, assemblies and systems, creating Certificates of Incorporation or Declaration of incorporations.

All round engineering skills with the ability to problem solve and generate concepts with an understanding of both manufacturing, installation and maintenance techniques to guide and influence project teams.

Key Skills and Qualifications

High level of competency in the use of Solidworks 3D CAD software

High level of competency in the use of AutoCAD 2D CAD software

Competent in the use of MathCAD for engineering and structural calculations

Competent in the use of Ansys or similar FEA software

Masters degree level qualifications in an engineering discipline – Chartered or close to achieving this

Practical experience of engineering, apprentice trained or with significant site experience.
