Setting Out Engineer - Main Contracting

Our client is a main contracting business with a wealth of history in specialist construction projects. Within the past year the business has been acquired by a larger holding group. Whilst retaining its heritage and tradition, the business has now broadened their capabilities throughout London, Home Counties, South East and East Anglia.

Our client is a true general contractor. They undertake contracts within the £1m–£10m range and operates in the Commercial & Industrial, Prime Residential, Retail & Leisure, Health and Public & Community sectors.

About the role:

Our client is looking to recruit a roving Setting Out Engineer to report directly to the Project Manager. You will be happy to travel to multiple locations within the client’s area of operation (London, Home Counties & South East).

They are continuing to expand within the London and South East region and have recently secured a number of projects. The candidate must have knowledge of building processes within the main contract building environment typically covering education, healthcare, commercial, retail, leisure, residential and specialist projects. Their projects range from £1-£10m with a mixture of New Build and Refurbishment. You will ideally be a Setting Out Engineer with aspirations of progressing into a senior role given training.

About the benefits and rewards:

The base package is circa £35,000 – £50,000 and the company’s main ambition is to bring an individual into the organisation with the ability to grow and become a valued member of the team. There will also be a generous benefits package in addition the basic (travel & pension).

About the requirements:

• Candidates need to be degree qualified in a Engineering related.
• A minimum of 2 years’ site engineering experience on site, working within build or civil environment

The client is looking for someone with a formal construction degree / qualification in Engineering and an interest in working within main contracting. It would be preferable if candidates come from a build background but civils related experience will also be considered. Our client wants someone that is Lateral thinking and highly developed problem-solving abilities should be coupled with a very strong academic background.
