On behalf of our client based near Cheltenham, we are seeking a Payroll Manager to join a thriving and growing practice.

This role is offered on a fixed term contract of 12 months for maternity cover, providing management & technical support to the Payroll Solutions team.

The business will be looking to you to impart your knowledge whilst managing a growing team as well as working towards growing the client base.

Their team inclusive approach provides personal mentoring support at Partner level along with the full range of training and support to be expected from a top Accounting Practice.

You will ideally have prior experience of leading and working in a busy Payroll function and operating multiple payrolls.

Duties include:

• Overall responsibility for the Payroll Solutions Team – 11+
• Looking at Business Development opportunities
• Review and improve payroll policies and procedures
• Interpret new legislation impacting payroll
• System review and enhancements with internal IT and software provider
• Resolution of any escalations from the team and other complex queries
• Manage and motivate team members

Key Skills and Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years management/supervisory exposure and or experience
• Hands on experience of end to end payroll processing
• STAR Payroll professional is preferred but not essential
• Payroll Qualification CIPP desirable
• Fully conversant with RTI and AE
• Planning and organisation skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Problem solving skills
• Resilient nature
• Ability to think quickly and multi-task
• Ability to communicate well on all levels both verbally and written
