£30,000 to £40,000 + Benefits

Design Engineer required for a specialist manufacturer in the heavy engineering industry that design and manufacture special purpose machinery at one of several key sites.

The role would suit a Design Engineer with experience of heavy engineering design and ideally having experience with materials handling equipment design such as conveyors though this is not a requirement.

The Design Engineer will initially focus on taking existing designs into production and then later on developing into managing design projects from concept to installation and commissioning, working with the customers, sales and manufacturing teams on challenging projects.

Design Engineer Role:
- Mainly Mechanical Design
- Converting 2D AutoCAD proposals into 3D Designs using Autodesk Inventor
- Designing full systems and detail them to individual component level
- Produce full parts drawings, BOMs and assembly drawings
- Concepts for new products as well as the improvement of existing products
- Drawings for weldment and/or assembly
- Working with suppliers to determine best materials and solutions
- Site surveys where necessary and providing technical solutions and recommendations

Design Engineer Candidate:
- Experience in the use of 2D and 3D CAD (SolidEdge/SolidWorks/Autodesk Inventor)
- Experience in the design of Special Purpose Machinery, Conveyor Systems or Material Movement Systems
- Taking product designs from concept to manufacture
- Strong organisational skills and ability to run multiple projects in parallel
- HNC/HND/Degree qualified from a Mechanical Engineering background would be beneficial
