We are seeking an experienced Secretary/Paralegal to join our clients Litigation team based in Brighton.

You will assist on a wide range of matters including property disputes, professional negligence, will and probate disputes, debt recovery, company and partnership disputes and intellectual property.

Litigation secretarial experience is essential and you will need fast, accurate audio typing skills and to be familiar with billing/accounts. You should also have experience of case management systems and strong IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Case Management System).

In addition to secretarial tasks, you will assist with drafting documents, liaise with clients, experts, etc. by phone and email and carry out legal research You will also assist with general correspondence and administrative support, including filing and file management and, in the absence of your supervising fee-earner, be expected to use your initiative to ensure that urgent matters are referred to the right people.

You will have excellent communication skills and be approachable and professional at all times, with an awareness of the sensitive nature of the work and the importance of working to court deadlines and prioritising tasks. A methodical and organised approach is essential, as is an excellent standard of written English. You will be enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable.

A strong academic background, ideally including a legal qualification is required and in additional to the secretarial skills described, you will need relevant paralegal experience, to include drafting letters and notes and sorting and reviewing records.
