Health & Social Care Assessor/Tutor/IV (Part-time)

This is an ideal position for someone only requiring part time hours and who wants the flexibility of being able to work part of the week in work based locations at employers’ premises and part of the time from home.

The post will allow you to draw on your experience to provide learners in their workplace with support and training, allowing them to enhance their skills and realise their career potential. You would be working in Health and Social Care environments.

Training would be available to obtain an IV qualification if this is needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Duties – Assessor/Tutor/IV

• To work as part of the team to introduce the new standards for Health & Social Care.
• To tutor groups of learners providing off job training to Level 2 and Level 3 Diploma standards.
• Visit learners in the workplace and assess/tutor them including assessing their abilities in the Functional Skills of English and Maths.
• Fully understand the NVQ/QCF National Standards for the qualifications being assessed, and must be aware of the differences between the levels qualifications/frameworks. Would have learners on Level 2 and Level 3 programmes.
• Be able to interpret the knowledge requirements in ways that are appropriate to learners at all levels and providing motivation and on-going support.
• Be able to assess by direct observation of the candidates’ practice as specified by the evidence requirements and deliver to the agreed standard.
• Plan, implement and deliver high quality initial assessments, inductions and reviews of progress with learners.
• Ensure all delivery meets quality and performance standards set by IVs/Managers and Awarding Bodies.
• Ensure accurate completion of paperwork and learners records in line with agreed and documented standards and systems and maintain documentation of learners’ progression.
• Some of the paperwork will be provided by The Employers Forum and will be common to all learners.
• Monitor all learners’ progression and ensure assessment is completed to enable learners to complete timely.
• Manage own caseload and diary.
• Achieve targets set for starts, achievement rates and timely completion rates.
• Liaise with the Learners, Employers, Internal Verifiers, External Verifiers, Assessment Organisations and the Forum’s other staff as appropriate.
• Attend team meetings and standardisation meetings as required.
• Prepare evidence for inspection by the External Verifier and meet when required.
• Implement any improvements identified as a result of performance reviews, internal verification (IV) sampling, observations of Teaching Learning & Assessments.
• Internal Verifier training will be provided if needed to help develop professional skills.

Other

• To maintain the confidentiality about clients, staff and other business. The work is of a confidential nature and information gained must not be communicated to other persons except in the recognised course of duty. The post holder must meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act at all times.

Skills and Attributes

• Must be able to work competently with the minimum of supervision
• The ability to work towards and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written
• IT skills in relation to use of awarding body website, record keeping, our client systems and e-portfolio systems
• High standard of customer care skills
• Travel to, and work in different centres and employer premises
• Available to work outside normal office hours when required by learners/employers

Experience

• Experience of working in the Health Sector, e.g. medical centre, health centre or general health service, care homes.
• Several years’ experience as an Assessor/Tutor.

Hours and times are flexible. To be agreed

Pay

This will depend on the hours worked and whether self-employed or as an employee.

Other

The candidate could work either freelance (self-employed) or as an employee. The work will be in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and Derbyshire
