Systems Engineer (EC&I, Commissioning and Software)

Good basic salary based on experience + paid overtime & excellent benefits

As one of the East Midlands’ more established engineering companies, with a proven track record in providing advanced engineered solutions to the power generation, cement, steel, aggregates and petrochemical industries, my client has a fantastic pedigree.

Due to a period of significant and sustainable growth they are now looking to build their team and take the company into the next phase in their development and to ensure that they are able to continue to service their customers’ engineering needs and develop products for new industries.


As an experienced Systems Engineer (EC&I, Commissioning and Software) you will be responsible for all aspects of electrical control system design work, including producing parts lists, electrical schematics and back panel layouts, writing PC/PLC logic and control software, testing and then commissioning on site.

The core duties include:

* Dealing with contracts from initial concept discussions to final handover and all points in-between
* Analysis of existing information and the development of bespoke solutions
* The use and application of PLC software (for example: Allen Bradley, National Instruments, Siemens, Mitsubishi)
* The design of customer components required to complete installation
* Inspecting finished components to ensure they meet the specification
* Assist in the development, build, inspection and commissioning of the finished products
* Producing written reports, quotes, Operations / Maintenance manuals and any product risk assessments
* Providing training (in-house and for customers)
* Site visits to discuss the projects with clients and involved stakeholders


In order to be considered for this Systems Engineer (EC&I, Commissioning and Software) role it is expected that you will have:

* Relevant experience in a similar role
* Relevant qualifications relating to electrical / electronic equipment (Degree or vocational qualifications)
* The ability to read and modify existing programmes
* Solid experience with National Instruments LabVIEW (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi will also be considered)
* Experience of working with PLCs
* An ability to write software / code for the equipment mentioned
* Proven experience of reading (and understanding) electrical and control drawings (typically PLCs, Relay Cards, I/O Cards, Terminals, Solenoids, Power Supplies, Cabling, Instrumentation etc.)

Any site commissioning experience would be useful, along with a working knowledge of AutoCAD
