HEAD OF OPERATIONS & PEOPLE (IFA) - PORTSMOUTH - UP TO £40K

I am recruiting for a Head of Operations and People, to join my client's team and assume ownership for the operations and management of the team, ultimately helping to grow the business. With strong people management and client engagement experience this is a varied and diverse role.

About the role

Ultimately I'm looking for someone to develop and shape my client's operations, with a clear focus on stakeholder engagement and strategic direction.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter, someone with extensive Financial Services experience, ideally with one of the large financial institutions, to come on board and assume ownership for all company operations and people management. A proactive individual with excellent communication and organisational skills, the successful applicant will be tenacious with the ability to work autonomously, under pressure and to meet deadlines.

We are looking for someone to own the role, managing this initially on your own yet be able to develop a team as our business grows, and in doing so help get the best results all round.

Typical duties and responsibilities

* Leading and supporting your stakeholders, collaborating with other teams and continuously seeking new and innovative ways to improve the delivery of service.
* Review existing processes and procedures ensuring they are sufficiently agile to effectively support the business, and where appropriate, generate cost savings.
* Provide HR advice from recruitment and employee relations to remuneration and compliance, ensuring that policies and procedures are fit for purpose.
* Challenge, influence and persuade stakeholders to engage with, and consider change.
* Proactively identify opportunities for the business to improve retention and internal engagement, and then develop and implement.
* Provide support for project related activities, as required, as directed by the Managing Director.
* To encourage and actively seek feedback both internally and externally to support client experience initiatives.
* Establish and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Recruitment and performance management of staff across all levels.
* Pre-empt issues and find solutions.

About You

* You will have extensive Financial Services experience and proven organisational abilities coupled with strong attention to detail. You’ll be someone who isn’t fazed by a wide range of tasks happening at once.
* You'll have proven HR experience, with CIPD qualifications advantageous.
* With the client always at the forefront of your mind, you’ll drive forward and influence all communications and work closely with the wider team to identify and share best practice, aiming for continuous improvement.
* You will be a great team player.
* A proficiency in using client CRM systems would be advantageous.
* An ability to stay focused under pressure – things sometimes seem to happen all at once!
* You must have experience of working within the financial services industry in a managerial capacity. This will ideally be in an IFA or Wealth Management firm and you must be able to demonstrate success in managing staff on a one to one basis.
* Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
* Excellent telephone manner and overall great interpersonal skills.
* Good numeracy and written skills.
* An excellent attention to detail is an essential ability that you will need to demonstrate in the role.
