Are you a Makaton/PECS trained or experienced learning support assistant who is looking for a new role in Fulham?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with a school based in Fulham who are recruiting for a learning support assistant for their year 1 class. The SENco is keen to appoint an Makaton or PECS experienced learning support assistant to work with a year 1 pupil who has Autism.

The school is a large community orientated two form entry primary in the heart of Fulham.

The ideal candidate for the learning support assistant role will have previous experience in a similar role and will ideally have experience using Makaton sign to communicate and/or be familiar with PECS. Crucially, you need to have an interest in Autism and be able to form good relationships with the child, parents and staff. A positive outlook and confident professional approach are important for this role.

The role
The role will consist of 1-1 support for the pupil in year 1 as well as some general class TA support. You will be working closely with the class teacher and SENco to implement strategies for learning and help the pupil make the best possible progress in their learning.

The role is full time, 5 days week and is to start ASAP. The role for the remainder of this academic with the opportunity to continue into the next academic year in September.

• Have experience working with children who have Autism
• Have recent experience working in a primary school setting
• Ideally you will have experience using Makaton and PECS to communicate
• This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
• You must have the legal right to work in the UK
