Octopus Computers is a family run business providing a range of IT services to local and regional SME’s. We work as a close knit team to provide excellent IT solutions to our customers including the provision and support of a variety of platforms.

This role will have you working in our Support and Migrations Team reporting to the Technical Operations Manager.

We are looking for an experienced IT Technician with the ability to deliver hands on and remote IT support to customers on various platforms and who is able to work in a fast paced environment. Operating out of our Oakham Office our standard working hours are Monday to Friday 9 to 5.30, although our customers appreciate minimising their down-time and so some out of hours work is required to deliver key project solutions in a timely and efficient manner. All time and expenses are duly compensated. We encourage a flexible working pattern to maximise efficiency and the work-life balance of our employees.

Main Responsibilities:-

  • Provide routine IT support to a variety of different organisations

  • Assist with the deployment of client migrations, usually to cloud or hybrid setups.Maintenance and installation of various platforms including Office 365, Google G Suite, Azure and Google Cloud Platform

  • Performing routine hardware repairs

  • Administering Microsoft Exchange

  • Handling customer enquiries over the phone and via our ticketing system

  • Site visits and remote support

  • Troubleshooting and resolving any issues that may arise in consultation with the customer and the tech team, along with its associated administration

  • Administering Active Directory

  • Assist in the maintenance, distribution and installation of hardware and software working with our state of the art RMM software

Minimum Requirements, Skills and Experience:-

  • It is unlikely that you will be under the age of 25 and have the necessary skills and experience we are after, but age is most certainly not a barrier

  • Academic qualifications are not specifically required, but you must demonstrate a reasonable level of intellect, be articulate, literate and numerate

  • Full UK driving licence held for at least two years

  • You must have excellent team working skills, a good sense of humour and a keen eye for detail

  • A good understanding of IT hardware and Microsoft software (Windows, Active Directory, Office.)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to adhere to company policies, procedures and deadlines

  • Professional attitude and a strong work ethic, you must care about the customers’ up time as much as they do

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
