We are in the market for an experienced Inspector who can carry out mechanical engineering inspections of precision machined components for a company that prides itself on quality.

Based between Leeds and York, the company employ over 180 staff and operate worldwide!

Key Accountabilities of Role:

- Interpret customer drawings
- Identify and taking action on non-conformances and maintenance of NCN system
- Maintain calibration of measuring tools
- Produce accurate documentation
- Act as final quality gate to ensure only products which reach quality standards are passed to the final customer

Responsibilities:

- Interpret customer drawings, identify specified standards and check final component produced meets specification. Produce supporting evidence by checking throughout the production process and validating components at the end of manufacture, to provide customer with confidence that the finished product meets their specification. This will ensure any financial or reputational risk of supplying a product which does not meet specification is removed.
- Prioritise workload by liaising with Production Manager and Project Engineers about delivery schedules and delivery dates on projects. This will ensure that no unnecessary delays are incurred in the inspection process as there will be full visibility of timescales for inspection requirements.
- Identify components which do not conform with customer specification enabling corrective action to be taken before the product is delivered to the customer. Where corrective action cannot be taken, determine the disposition of non-conformances including reworking, scrapping or agreeing a concession with the customer. Liaise with the Project Engineer and customer as necessary.
- Carry out root-cause analysis to identify cause of non-conformance, eg operator error, machine problem, wrong materials etc using the "5 Whys" technique and ensure preventative measures are put in place to prevent future non-conformances. This will reduce the need for dispositions and maintain Lambert`s reputation as a provider of quality components.
- Maintain calibration of measuring tools working with UKAS ensuring all measuring equipment is kept in a known state of calibration which is traceable back to British, International and customer standards. Ensure all methods of measuring comply with calibration tolerances and that checks are carried out at appropriate intervals. Maintain accurate records to demonstrate accuracy measures. This will remove any subjectivity when determining whether the final component meets the required standards.
- When a component is finished, complete Inspection Report to confirm the product meets the required specification and produce Certificate of Conformance to be sent to the customer. Store detailed inspection report on the companies database for future reference which can be referred to in any future quality dispute.
- Engage, advise and guide other managers and colleagues on quality issues to ensure compliance with ISO14001 and ISO9001 by complying with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures. This will ensure the business retains its accreditation and maintains its position as a provider of high quality service and product.
- Work with Design Engineers and customers, on product and process investigations to identify problems and devise solutions in relation to Automation Systems and Engineering Equipment projects.
- Apply the principles of 6S and general good housekeeping to maintain a clean, tidy and efficient environment in keeping with the operation of a first class inspection department.
- Work with all colleagues to ensure compliance with ISO14001, ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 and support a culture of Lean and Continuous Improvement by complying with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures
