QA Lead - Broadcast Software

North London

35-40k with benefits

Global Broadcast Software Company is seeking a talented QA Lead to play a key role in a large team of 18 QA's in North London. They provide business management software systems designed to support TV broadcasters and content providers around the world with their content acquisition, rights management, airtime scheduling, media trafficking and advertising sales. Its client base is approximately sixty strong including many major broadcasters and media companies around the world.

The QA Lead is responsible for ensuring that clients receive the best possible quality of software, by leading quality efforts of from setup through delivery. QA Lead's may lead one or more testers who will join them upon demand in testing the very complex system that is a bespoke broadcasting management software system.


  • Planning the QA efforts of projects/solutions from design phase through go live
  • Reviewing spec, technical designs for accuracy
  • Create client specific test plans based on the technical specs
  • Create and manage QA work plans in coordination with the project plans
  • Create detailed dashboards and reports to reflect the QA status
  • Setup and manage client specific test environments and test data
  • Balancing between QA members
  • Implementing and coordinating the appropriate test procedures and models inc. timely team meetings and status reporting
  • Contribution to the everlasting improvement process by investigating new technologies, tools, etc
  • Release management from the QA perspective
  • Prioritisation tests based on risks assessment
  • The overall quality of the project/solution deliverables (including but not limited to test scripts, bug reports, execution reports) and the team's performance. Creating, monitoring, and verifying defect reports

Required Skills

  • 2 years Vast knowledge in testing/issue tracking tools (QC, TeamTrack), testing methodologies and models
  • High knowledge level of software development life cycle
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Strong manual testing skills (solid Testing experience)
  • Knowledge of SQL, XML and .NET Client Server testing techniques
  • Strong management skills (good experience of managing a minimum of 2 people)


  • Extensive broadcasting background on systems such as Airtime Sales, Scheduling, Traffic, or Content Management
  • Good knowledge of automation tools and methodologies
  • Experience of commercial product release packaging and testing, and of testing big mission-critical systems
  • Experience in determining process improvement opportunities from defect analysis
