We are currently recruiting for an Operations Accountant on behalf of our client, a leading Oil and Gas operator. This is a contract position initially until the end of the year based in Aberdeen.

Duties include;
-Provide key customers (budget holders/ field managers / ADMs / Business Partnering team) with value adding financial information that is timely, accurate, meets their needs and aids decision making.

-Responsible for ensuring the ledger reflects the correct position of field Operations and the accruals, recodes, allocations, billings and reporting are carried out on a timely and accurate basis. Liaison with other Finance Ops accounting groups and Payables colleagues in Aberdeen and London, to ensure ledger and reports accurately reflect asset Operations.

-Responsible for the accuracy of the ledgers and delivering consistent and efficient process relevant to the following cost categories:
Direct Costs (offshore employees, offshore contractors, catering etc)
Support Costs (time-writing, communications/IT, platform allocations)
Facilities Engineering and Subsea Operations (as required in support of the Technical Services accountant)

-Prepare budget information for these cost categories from Operations teams to feed into asset budgets and AOP, ensuring information received is in line with actual spend/current accounting.
Prepare current year Gross Opex Outlook reporting for Operations for these categories. Comprehensive cost reforecast required at least four times per year.

-Prepare and further develop Monthly Cost Reports that help the business understand and control their opex spend. Hold regular meetings with Budget Holders in order to help them better understand, manage and control their budgets; provide accurate VOWD/Reforecasts/Variance Analysis.

-Assist in the completion of the documentation of accounting procedures that enable Finance to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Assist in the regular review with Internal Controls Advisor.

-Liaise with other departments to ensure you have a thorough understanding of the business processes as they relate to your area of responsibility. Develop strong working relationship with all members of the asset team, representing financial matters in this sphere of activity.

Qualifications required;
-Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA) - Part qualified/recently qualified preferred

Experience required;
-Ability to perform a critical review of financial information
-Oil industry experience preferred
-Experience of accounting for Joint venture & Operations accounting preferred
-Experience of preparing Management reporting in a timely accurate manner essential
-Experience of budgeting essential
-Good systems skills required - SAP experience is critical
-Good technical accounting skills and ability to work in detail to ensure accurate records
-Good relationship management skills
-Good communication skills (both interpersonal and written)
-Ability to work as individual and in a team to deliver accurate and consistent results
-Ability to balance the needs of the business with the needs of the Finance function
