Job Description

Fantastic opportunity to join a local company either part time or full time, based in Wheathampstead paying £8.50 - £10.00per hour. Previous experience as a journalist or proof reader would be a great advantage

As a Report Editor you will be responsible for the timely production of high quality reports from freelance mystery shoppers (based in the UK and overseas) that are clear and consistent, complete and credible, well written and grammatically correct.

You will be required to correct spelling, grammar and layout, and check content, impose house styles and reword or rewrite as appropriate.

You will be expected to write and develop executive summaries for the management of the industries more prominent catering and hotelier companies.

Main Responsibilities

  • To ensure all reports are amended and proof read prior to submission in line with the client's requirements
  • To check that shoppers have provided all of the required information in line with the client's brief
  • To ensure that all reports are constructive and well balanced
  • To liaise where necessary with shoppers directly by telephone and email
  • To resolve queries directly with the shopper regarding missing or inconsistent text
  • To correct errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • To work to the house style checklist to ensure consistency in hyphenation, capitalisation, formatting, etc
  • To ensure that reports are submitted to schedule
  • To provide proofreading guidance and support to team
  • To review and enforce a high standard of grammar across the client portfolio
  • To handle enquiries relating to the status of allocated workload
  • To escalate to management any comments that may need to be highlighted to the client outside of the report
  • To escalate to management any issues that may cause workload not to be completed within the defined timescales
  • To carry out 'test calls' and analyse when required
  • To maintain awareness of new words or phrases coming into popular usage with a view to ensuring they are appropriate for the readership
  • To use bespoke software to create/analyse/edit reports
  • To run reports, as required
  • To review methods of working regularly with a view to continually improving efficiency and quality
  • To answer incoming enquiries in the absence of the Administration Team
  • To communicate with the Nottingham office, when editing their reports
  • To undertake mystery visits as and when required (sometimes at weekends / during the evening)
  • Support Management Team, as and when required
  • Provide support to other areas as and when required
