Research Associate - Hedge Funds

We are seeking a candidate, with a history of producing original research, to join the busy research department of a global trade association representing the hedge fund industry. Expect to autonomously produce research papers that promote the hedge fund industry.

Operating since 1990 and with a corporate membership in excess of 1,800 firms in more than 50 countries this association is a global trade body for the hedge fund industry. Working at a national and international level, members include hedge fund managers, prime brokers, legal firms, investors, fund administrators and other stakeholders. They are now seeking a Research Associate who is passionate about the industry, quantitatively competent and confident enough to engage with a senior audience, to join their talented team.

Joining as the Research Associate you will utilise your knowledge of how hedge funds operate in the EU and the US, to conduct research and present findings.

The role includes:

  • Producing proposals and original research autonomously, to a publishable standard;
  • Using primary data and presenting its findings;
  • Working alongside members of committees and industry participants;
  • Writing up research reports that involve applying quantitative and qualitative research skills to promote the hedge fund industry;
  • Representing our client among global member firms to identify and lever hedge fund thought leadership;
  • Recognising trends in financial markets, regulation, and industry policy and determining their effect on capital markets and hedge funds in particular;
  • Developing a close liaison with other in house teams to develop research materials capable of supporting evidence-based advocacy;
  • Undertaking quantitative research encompassing data analysis, modelling and statistical testing.

To qualify... You should be a Research Associate / Asset Management Research Analyst / Quantitative Researcher or similar with a CV that demonstrates:

  • A true passion for hedge funds with an understanding of how policy and legislation affects the industry;
  • A strong writing ability with evidence of sound research capabilities and the ability to source primary data and develop and test hypothesis;
  • A quantitative ability (knowledge of statistics and econometrics) with Excel modelling skills;
  • A graduate level of education with a professional certification such as the CAIA / ICMA / CISI qualification preferred;
  • A confident mentality with the ability to express views to a senior audience;
  • The ability to work under pressure and represent our client professionally and positively.
