Great opportunity for an experienced and professional Head of Department in Functional Skills & ALS with a leading FE College based in London. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Vice Principal and will be responsible for the leadership of the section as well has the College's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include:
- Key responsibility for the quality, management, and delivery of a programme of study or a group of courses
- Work with the leadership team to identify and achieve annually negotiated targets such as those related to student enrolment, retention and achievement
- Ensure and be accountable for a high quality and relevant learning, assessment and teaching experience for all students on courses or programmes of study within the department
- Ensure and be accountable for the achievement and success of all students within the course or programme of study within the Learning and Standards Area of Learning
- Lead on the implementation of the course review process within the Learning and Standards Area of Learning and work with the Head of Faculty and other college managers, to develop and act on interventions which support the achievement of students at risk
- Ensure and be accountable for the continuous improvement in quality through the College's self-assessment process and quality assurance systems.

As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Degree or equivalent qualification
- Recognised teaching qualification
- Previous experience across Functional Skills, ALS and LLDD
- Managed a curriculum area including line management of staff and curriculum development
- Strong communication skills and be passionate about education
