They provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. Position: Dementia Support Worker Location: Islington Contract type: Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2019 Hours: 21 per week Salary: £14,376.60 per annum (actual) Closing date: 5pm on Thursday 15 March Interview date: TBC About the role: Our clients Dementia Support service involves dedicated members of staff giving one to one support, information and guidance to people with dementia or their carers and wider family or friends, to help people understand dementia, cope with day to day living with dementia and prepare for the future. Also this role involves organising and facilitating two groups for people affected by dementia in Islington. One group runs Tuesday morning (10-12pm) and the other every other Saturday afternoon (1.30-4.30pm). As a Dementia Support Worker you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. You will offer support and guidance to your clients in a variety of ways, whether at the venue of the groups, in the client's own home, at service offices or at other locations, face to face, by phone, letter or email. You will also assist service users to access other services, providing signposting and referrals. About you: They are looking for an individual who possess NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) with an understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. Your ability to assess client needs along with the understanding of the need for client confidentially is essential to providing a valuable and worthwhile service. To be successful in this role you will need to share the vision of our client, have strong organisational and time management skills as well as communication skills and work well within the local team. As the groups run on Tuesday and every other Saturday afternoon they are looking for someone who can be available at the times of the groups. Our client is committed to equal opportunities.
