General Manager (Sales/Operations) – Engineering/Manufacturing (OEMs/Tier1)

The Client:

A significant engineering brand which has developed a real sales focus over the years. Their UK business is considerable in size and stature while still being small enough to retain a family-feel to each site. This is a role for a sales-focussed GM to further develop business with OEM’s and Tier 1 suppliers across various industries.

The Role:

From day one, you will benefit from a stable and committed senior management team that will offer plenty of support in the early days while you ‘find your feet’. You will play a critical role in outlining the vision for the business over the next five years which should see turnover double, should your strategy and implementation be right. In order to achieve this goal, certain developments and continuous improvement updates must be executed but the real task is in the sales department. There must be a shift from transactional selling to consultative selling if the overall turnover objectives are to be achieved. To facilitate this change, you must be able to create the right culture for this change to happen and then coach and support the existing/new sales people in order for them to meet your expectations in terms of sales process and delivery.

The Person:

This role will suit a ‘sales-focussed’ engineering GM who is used to retaining some control over large-spending accounts. Sectors include Automotive, F1, Oil & Gas, Wind and Medical so you should have had exposure to OEMs and Tier 1s in some of these sectors. Experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives on the shop-floor will really strengthen your application.

The Rewards:

A basic salary of £85 – 95,000 is on offer along with a realistic bonus scheme which will add around 25% of your salary to your overall package. A full benefits package is included along with a company car.
