A unique opportunity for a System Administrator to secure a position within our large design and development office in Rugby. This wide-ranging role requires someone who lives and breathes Linux and is ready to take on a network that consists of 60+ Linux servers, hosted within AWS, and an internal network using Windows (7 through to 10), Linux (mainly Ubuntu), and OSX machines.

You will be working in our System Administration team, helping to support our existing Linux-based private cloud and aiding in the construction and maintenance of our web-serving AWS infrastructure.

From writing your own serverless functions to banning entire countries using GeoIP in nginx, you’ll play a key part in the constant roll out of new servers and up to date packages. You’ll be keeping a close eye on the management and security of our software, ensuring that staff have the tools and packages they need to work with and helping to make sure that our networks stay stable and secure.


Essential Skills
  • Strong understanding of DNS
  • AWS (e.g. EC2, RDS, ELB)
  • Strong Linux knowledge
  • Fluent in Bash
  • LAMP and LEMP stack
  • Ability to find, read and learn from documentation (and write your own)
  • Great communication and time planning skills
  • Ability to syphon out required information from mountains of data

Beneficial Skills
  • Configuration management software (Salt/Puppet/etc.)
  • Highly available system design
  • BIND configuration and networking (Cisco)
  • Samba / Active Directory
  • Some knowledge of LDAP
  • Windows Server management
  • Web stack software (e.g. Varnish, ElasticSearch, MySQL, Nginx, Apache/httpd)
  • Virtualisation technologies (e.g. Proxmox, VMWare, KVM, etc.)
