Your new role
You will be required to use your Team Teach training when working with the pupil who requires the extra support and supervision. You may be required to work with the pupil within the general class room and on a 1:1 basis. You would need to take control of the situation and use your own initiative consistently. You may also be required to work to IEP's for the pupil/s you are working with, observe progress and report back to the class teacher.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a calm and patient personality to work with children and be comfortable with being adaptable in your support across all age groups. You will have a good knowledge of the National Curriculum and have experience working 1:1 and in small groups. You will be a keen observer and be able to know where pupils will need extra help and support if needed and what that support should be. You must also be comfortable working on a 1:1 basis with varying SEN and on occasion taking minimal instruction and working well on your own initiative.
