Test and Product Compliance Manager, Based to the North of Brighton, To £45,000
Due to internal promotion, our client is seeking a Test and Product Compliance Manager for their site to the north of Brighton.
Our client is a worldwide, leading manufacturer of products to the public transport industry. All design, development, and the majority of production, is carried out at their head office to the north of Brighton.

You will be responsible for a team of 4 Engineers covering software and hardware testing and compliance. Ideally with a background in either software or hardware testing, or product compliance, you will have a good understanding of the product development process and the various stages of testing. Ideally you will have worked with Standards and be familiar with mandatory testing requirements. Experience of environmental and EMC testing is desirable. This role would suit a Test Team leader looking to further their career with a move into Management.
The primary focus of the role is to manage the team including; managing the team schedule; assigning work and priorities; monitoring progress; managing work and staff issues; liaising with Project Managers and other section Managers to meet timescales; presenting progress and status updates. You will also be required to handle the day to day running of some of the smaller development projects.
You will report to the Development Manager and/or a designated intermediary. You are likely to work with Sales, Technical Support and Production staff as well as other members of the Development team. Occasional UK and overseas visits are possible but not frequent. These will be to test houses, other offices and to customer sites.
Key Responsibilities·To assist in developing new software and firmware products ·To ensure that agreed quality, cost and time milestones are met ·To produce documentation as required for peer group review and future reference, in fulfilment of our Quality standards ·To work productively with other staff ·To advise his or her manager of any improvements, conflicts of interest or inefficiencies ·To consistently define, follow and promote development and test processes for software & hardware creation, release and delivery. ·To make testing process consistent across all products and relevant departments Role
The candidate will be performing these tasks on a regular/daily basis·Short and long term planning and strategy for team members ·Recruitment of new team members ·Monitoring and reporting of Team’s objectives and achievements. ·To review and improve process as necessary. ·Review and update of tools and resources ·Overseeing all software testing (Functional / System / Regression / Acceptance) ·Overseeing all system testing (Integrated H/W and S/W) ·Overseeing all internal and external hardware testing including functional and environmental ( including temperature / humidity / vibration / impact / EMC / IP) ·To plan and co-ordinate the Type Approval (EMark) testing and certification ·To plan and co-ordinate the CE testing and certification ·To plan and co-ordinate hardware certification to BS and EN standards ·To witness testing and attend site visits to Test Houses when necessary
Background / Skills
The ideal candidate would have a testing background, with the following skills and experience:
Essential•Software / hardware testing background, preferably both. •Management or team lead experience •Good planning and organisational skills •Ability to work in a fast paced environment, and turnaround projects in short timescales. •Ability to allocate time and resources to meet the project priorities •Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel •Ability to understand and resolve technical difficulties •Self-motivated and ability to work autonomously •Ability to give updates and snapshot reports to Senior Management as required. •Ability to run (Project Manage) small projects as required •Strong interpersonal skills •Ability to guide / mentor junior members of staff. •Ability to handle staff issues •Ability to work across the levels of Sales, Development, Manufacturing etc. •Experience in working within an ISO9001 Quality system and contributing to its development •Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
