Position Overview

The purpose of this role is to support the development and implementation of appropriate planned maintenance services across the Boot's contract as directed by the Engineering Manager. The Team leader will manage the onsite multi-skilled engineering team, working with FM helpdesk and contractors to deliver a business focused maintenance strategy working towards industry best practice.The role will includes health and safety management and performance management within the engineering team, involving site inspections, audits and bi-annual staff appraisals. This highly technical role will include the identification and delivery of equipment based improvement programmes covering complex BMS and energy management systems through to more traditional building engineering services.

The role will also include the development and submission of appropriate technical reports and the preparation of critical engineering reports based on information requested from the on-site teams and others.

As part of a on site team it is essential that the Engineer operates as an Authorised Person

The position requires the candidate to be on call once every 8 or 9 weeks, an allowance is paid for being on stand-by with over time payment for attendance


  • Full management of the engineering team
  • Management of Sub contractors
  • Working relationships with the helpdesk
  • Liaison between management and the team
  • To track equipment/highlight training requirements as needed
  • Technical support and advice for sub-contractors and client representatives
  • Daily interaction between engineering team and the wider FM team
  • Management of team performance using data provided by the CAFM system
  • Engineering team 1-1 meetings
  • Support health and safety audits
  • IOSH (training provided)
  • AP electrical (training provided)
  • Call out rota (with extra payments)
  • Overtime when required

What we are looking for


  • Substantial quantifiable and demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrable experience of innovation and maintenance best practice
  • Recent successful experience of training technical personnel
  • Recent experience creating and maintaining technical manuals and work instructions
  • Recent experience supporting critical engineering services within a data centre environment
  • A technical qualification in electrical discipline
  • A formal qualification or extensive experience in building engineering services
  • Extensive Building Management Systems and other control systems experience
  • IT literate with FM Management Information Systems, MS Word, Power Point and Excel
  • Ability to produce detailed reports for the customer and line Manager
  • Extensive experience in managing a large multi-disciplined technical workforce
  • Experience with maintenance duties including fault diagnosis, LV switching plans, Authorised persons and fault rectification.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical training
  • Experience running best practice forums and improvement workshops
  • Experience of managing a maintenance budget
  • Experience of management of sub contractors


  • Clean Driving Licence
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Authorised Person
  • Nebosh or IOSH Qualification
