Role: Operations Supervisor

Location: Peterborough + some travelling

Salary: up to £25,000 depending on experience

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a telecommunications company based in the Peterborough area who are looking for an Operations Supervisor to join their team.


  • Ensure all Project Work is completed according to Quality and Health & Safety guidelines

  • Support the day-to-day operations, providing operational support, quality audits.

  • Pre-sighting jobs when required to ensure fluidity and reduce margin for failure / abortive visits.

  • Attending site meetings with customer, councils etc. as required.

  • Support the Project Manager to ensure swift technical problem resolution in the field

  • Support the Project manager to ensure full administration & real-time update compliance to ensure there are no inhibitors to swift payment following job completion

  • Defects – Coordinating the swift rectification of all defects.

  • Inducting all new operatives through the ‘Structured On-boarding Process’

    Key duties:

    Quality & Health and Safety:

  • Ensure work is completed to the required quality standard, with a primary focus on safety and quality to meet client and company expectations, with a low defect rate, within budget and in accordance with company and client H&S standards.

  • Providing support and guidance to engineers for quality and safety.

  • Carry out CQP quality checks and audits on all operatives (1 per operative per month).

  • Complete 1 Health & Safety check per operative per month.

  • Carry out ‘Spot Checks’ on operatives to check H&S and Quality Management in line with the businesses H&S Check Process (signing, lighting, guarding, safe working, whereabouts).

  • Ensure Ladders & Safety belts are checked and in date.

  • Ensure Vehicle checks are completed as per company guidelines.

  • Deliver Tool Box talks to Field Engineers (minimum of quarterly), ensuring full documentation as per company process.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of latest engineering practices, quality specification and safety legislation.

    Engineering Performance:

  • Provide mentoring and guidance to operatives; ensuring quality of work, procedures and methods are working are understood and adhered to.

  • Be point of contact for technical assistance by operatives.

  • Identify and Implement Improvement Plans for engineers who are under performing and / or not compliant with the company or client processes (e.g. whereabouts, CT mobile, Job Packs, A55 quality etc)

  • Carry out Company Inductions for all new Field Engineering teams, ensuring that they are capable and equipped to work on site – ensure that correct documentation is used to evidence inductions as per the agreed company process.

  • Train the Trainer - Assess and Accredit all Operatives for the work which they are undertaking and complete the necessary Accreditation Module paperwork.

  • Ensure accreditations are kept up to date and are assessed in line with the Openreach Accreditation Guideline.

  • Assisting and dealing with BT Planners / NSR’s, Coordinators

  • Support and offer guidance to operatives using CT Mobile
