They are a non-judgemental, highly skilled team of staff and volunteers working around the clock for everyone who needs them. They provide free 24 hour confidential support, help, advice by phone, email, text and online, including the opportunity to reconnect. They also coordinate a UK wide network of people, businesses and media to join the search for the estimated 250,000 people who go missing each year. Our client is an independent charity that relies on donations. Position: Helplines Manager CYP Location: South West London (Central Office is based in Mortlake – 12 mins from Clapham Junction and 23 mins from Waterloo) Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Hours: 35 hours per week, some out of office hours' work will be required (evening & weekend hours) Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per annum Benefits: 25 days annual leave per annum / pro rata plus statutory holidays. Closing date: 9.00 am Wednesday 13th March 2018 First Interviews: Thursday 22 March 2018 Second Interviews: Tuesday 27th March 2018 Start date: From April 2018 About the role: The Helplines Manager - Children and Young People will be part of the Helpline Team, and their priority will be co-managing the delivery of their core 24 / 7 services to vulnerable children, adults and the families of missing people through phone, text, email and 1 to 1 chat. This role additionally holds the lead for children and young people service development across the organisation - working with colleagues to actively engage young people, share their voices and gain their participation with the charity, managing a portfolio of projects. Using your expertise in needs assessing and safeguarding, you will support the frontline team in their delivery of quality helpline services, and ensure caller care and safeguarding needs are met. Committed to developing people, you will line manage members of the team; provide Helpline training for staff and volunteers. Their Services team delivers direct help and support to missing children, vulnerable adults and families left in limbo. Staff and volunteers do this by assisting the search and by providing the channels for people to make contact; from public sightings generated via media appeals to their helplines for missing adults and children to access free and confidential support 24 / 7. About you: - Significant experience of direct work with children and young people and providing services to children and young people and working within a safeguarding framework - Experience of helplines service delivery and management (voice or digital) - Significant experience in the voluntary sector and/or organisations delivering services to vulnerable people - A good understanding of the needs of young people, a passion for working with them and advocating on their behalf - Experience of managing and developing staff and volunteers - Knowledge and understanding of using social media and online written support as a support function to engage with vulnerable people - Experience delivering education or awareness raising to children and young people; developing resources ideally in written and multimedia formats - Experience of supporting young people to get involved in services, participation and sharing their story - Experience of handling sensitive calls and being able to deal with crisis intervention - Experience of the issues surrounding missing children and young people and their families/carers and in particular young people in care You may have experience of the following: Helplines Manager, Helpline Manager, Helpline, Support Service, Advice and Guidance, Charity, Charities, Third Sector, Not for Profit, Coordinator, Manager, Safeguarding, Support, Team management, Service Delivery, Customer Service Manager, etc. This vacancy is being advertised by EasyWeb Recruitment, the UK’s leading Online Recruitment Agency.
