AWS cloud support engineer

A leading service provider and telecommunications company are seeking a freelance AWS cloud support engineer, based in Newbury.

Project Responsibilities

- Manage project driven integration and day-to-day administration of cloud solutions into the group datacentre (GDC)
- Driving Cloud solution automation and integration activity for Cloud Providers like AWS, Azure etc. and Tenant (Project) workloads.
- Build and deploy AWS cloud infrastructure by using cloud formation scripts.
- Develop Ansible and Python scripts for infrastructure automation like ``user creation``, ``security hardening``, etc.
- Migrate existing on-premises applications to AWS cloud.
- EC2, ECS and VPC operations activities in AWS cloud.
- Storage allocation and maintenance in AWS by using S3, EBS and Glacier storage.
- Deploying and resizing of EC2 instances on running environment.
- Manage ELBs and Elastic IPs.
- Design and deploy direct connect network between AWS and datacentre.
- Provide on-call support for AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Train and develop AWS expertise within the organisation.
- Troubleshoot datacentre to AWS network connectivity, routing issues and security group problems, etc.
- Troubleshoot EC2 instances performance, capacity issues, etc.Support the establishment of DevOps culture and methodologies within the GDC organisation.
- Providing professional technical consultancy and support to all Cloud-related programmes and existing environments


- Profound Cloud Technology, Network, Security and Platform Expertise (OpenStack, AWS, Azure)
- Expertise in AWS cloud services like VPC, EC2, ECS, S3, EBS, Glacier, ELB, Elastic IPs, etc.
- Expertise in automation and workflow like Cloud formation templates, Ansible scripts and Python scripts.
- Demonstrable knowledge in setting up VPCs and creating new environment in AWS cloud.
- Extensive knowledge in monitoring, troubleshooting Linux/Unix, Apache and network services.
- Expertise in troubleshooting TCP, Subneting, routing, NAting, etc.
- Expertise in managing backup and restore in AWS environment.
- Working experience with AWS service Lambda.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
- Degree in IT (any), 3 years of experience in cloud computing or 5 years in enterprise IT
- Adapt in ITIL, SOX and security regulations
- 2+ years AWS cloud infrastructure skills.
- Experience with Web applications and Web hosting skills.
- Experience with DevOps concept in cloud environment.
- Work experience in Agile type infrastructure/cloud operations.
- Experience in ITIL.
- Working experience in managing highly business critical environments.
- AWS architect/operations associate certification with experience preferred
